60 Thompson/SoHo
 

Just booked a room at 60 Thompson in the SoHo area of NYC. Has anyone stayed in this hotel? Supposedly, they have large (300 + sq.ft) and very tastefully designed rooms. There is also a restaurant there? Anyone eaten there? <BR><BR>Also, any suggestions for great restaurants in the SoHo area?<BR><BR>Thank you for your responses.

I stayed at 60 Thompson in June 2001 and really liked it. Went to check in and there was a photo shoot going on in the lobby! The restaraunt and rooftop bar were not open yet, but they had a breakfast room set up in the downstairs bar every morning with fresh pastries, etc. The rooms were a decent size, with very sleek modern interiors and a beautiful bathroom. The staff was very helpful and nice, even though we were the only people staying there that weren't dressed in all black! The location was very nice also, a fairly quiet street in Soho, but just around the corner from everything. <BR><BR>Hope that helps some!

Nice location. Did either of you get a deal? Mind sharing?

I think we paid $250 a night and i booked directly with the hotel.

We stayed there in October, last year and loved it. We thought the bed was the most comfortable of any hotel bed we'd ever slept in. The black granite bathroom is quite large and the room was large enough to have a small modern loveseat, table, and chair, sort of squeezed in next to the bed. The free pastries are gone now that the restaurant has opened, but we cleared out the honor bar and stocked up on breakfast items from Gourmet Garage, on Broome Street. The cocktail lounge in the evening was full of beautiful young people (in black and grey-ha). We enjoyed the location very much, as it was easy to walk to shopping, restaurants, galleries, etc., in the area and close to subway entrances. I'd love to go again, but we'll probably never get the rate we got then ($189/night).
