6 Month Arlington/DC Lease, Help Please !
I'm moving to America in May to begin a 6 month internship in Arlington, Virginia. I'll be working close to Courthouse Subway Station, so ideally would like to find somewhere in that locality or that's on that line. I had hoped to find accommodation for around $1000/mth but this is proving difficult. At an absolute stretch, I could pay up to $1,700. As I won't be in the US for more than a couple of days before I begin work I'm finding it difficult to arrange accommodation. Any help would be greatly appreciated...any ideas as to possible apartments in that area or even what areas I should be searching for would be great.

You will be hard pressed to find something liveable for $1000/month in that area. Since you will work close to the Metro stop, though, you may be able to find something less expensive further out on the Orange line. Another option might be to look for a room mate situation where you could share with someone already living in the area see http://dc.about.com/od/roommates/

Hi
Craig's List is great to learn a lot of information from and can possibly be a great help to you. If there's nothing listed there of help - you can put a listing on asking for a 6 month lease in the Arlington/Courthouse/Shirlington area.
Another possibility could be to check your employer with the 6 month internship - sometimes they have places to send you to.
Good luck Hope you enjoy DC and America!!

I have checked craigslist but so far nowhere seems suitable in terms the right area and timeframe...will keep an eye on it though! Ideally I'd like an apartment, but would be willing rent just the bedroom. Thanks for the suggestions!

My brother is retired military and he stayed with an elderly women who rented an efficiency apartment to him. Apparently there are alot of Senior citizens who rent apartments in the area. Try contacting a Senior organization in Arlington and see if you can hook up. Sometimes they want only rent and sometimes they will reduce rent for small errands like shopping. Try online search the local Aging and Independence Office or Senior Servcies for Arlington or State of Viginia. Or call a church..soemtines they know of someone who is in need of extra income...
