6 hr layover @ JFK-What to do?

Anyone have suggestions on something to do during our six hour layover at JFK airport? Is there anything close by to go to? Thanks for any suggestions

JFK is like a cross between a real "zoo" and a Halloween party. People watch! It's a blast and you'd be surprised how fast the time passes. I've never seen so many weird characters in my life. LOL

Hi:
By the time you get out of there in traffic you will have wasted 3 hours. You did not say if it was a domestic or international flight. Though I agree you should peoplewatch. The where Air France flies out of has a nice bistro called the Greenwich Village which serves decent food and drinks, its not too expensive and they don't rush you out.

Bring a good book! (And, that's not a sarcastic answer!)

Aqueduct and Belmont Racetracks are both close to JFK, particularly Aqueduct. Just a thought.

Don't think for a minute you'll actually have a six-hour layover. Your incoming plane will be 2 hrs. late; your on-going flight will be canceled and you'll have 20 minutes to figure out what to do.

Or, less extremely, your incoming flight will be 30 minutes later, it'll take everyone about 20 minutes to get off the plane, you need at least an hour to check in to the next flight, so you are down to 4 hrs., which is what you can spend just trying to get out of the airport and back in again. If any of these flights is an international flight, figure in the time in customs.
