6 Hours From Phoenix
 

I'm trying to find a place to visit (that I haven't seen before) for 2 days that would be only a 6-7 hour drive from Phoenix. I've seen almost everything within a 2 hour drive. Any suggestions?

Depends really on what you like to do. City stuff? Art galleries, museums, night life?

Or sightseeing stuff? Hiking? Biking?

It's hard to answer without knowing what you enjoy. A 6-7 hour drive would cover a huge area - you could get to San Diego, Las Vegas, Albuquerque and Mexico in 6-7 hours or less. What are you interested in, and what types of places have you been to and enjoyed within the 2 hour radius?

Mike's got it right...what are your interests? In six hours you could get to Hollywood or even Vaughn, NM {-: (I just picked out a spot on the map).
Seriously, since you live "out there" what do you or Mike or someone recommend for us who've never been to Arizona...we'll be in Tucson for a class reunion and then up the the Grand Canyon. I hear Sedona is a must see.

Since you will be in Tucson, why don't you explore a little down here? Sedona is a definite "must-see". Maybe from Tucson, leave early (7-8), get to GC in about 6 hours (1-2) check into hotel and look around. Stay overnight, and do more sightseeing there, then down to Sedona. Less than 3 hours from GC to Sedona, going through Oak Creek Canyon. Spend at least one overnight in Sedona.

How much additional time will you have? I have put together a draft email that contains numerous links for around Tucson. If you want to send me an email, I can send you all the links and you can browse them at your leisure

Mesa Verde National Park. Stay in the park or in nearby Durango. Both are absolutely wonderful!

I like to see more scenic stuff. I've been to Montezuma's Castle and Well, along with the Zoo in Camp Verde. I've done Sedona/Oak Creek Canyon, I practically live in Flagstaff. I've seen seven springs, and the white tanks. I've been to Ash Fork and Williams and the Grand Canyon. I've gone to Meteor Crater and the Painted Desert. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I just try to find places around here to see. I like to take photographs and scenery is my favorite thing to photgraph.

Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico... I haven't done it yet but I mean to some day. About 4 hours from Phoenix.

Monument Valley Tribal Park just north of Kayenta, AZ. Canyon de Chelly National Monument are within 6 hours drive.

Glen Canyon National Recreational Area (Lake Powell) near Page, AZ is also within that time frame. In the area are the Antelope Slots Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.

Just a little farther at 7 1/2 hours is Zion National Park, Utah.

I love Tubac, an artsy community south of Tucson on I-19. I could have taken photos there all day.

How about Scotty's Castle in Death Valley? Too far?

I love the Sonoran Desert, but I would start to go crazy from the many shades of BROWN rocks during the years I lived in Scottsdale. We would always take off for the high country, not head further into the desert. I'm guessing what Rain Monkey is craving is some GREEN meadows and trees. Of course that's why we moved to Oregon, and now we can vacation in Arizona instead.
Much better for us.

If you do Bisbee, check this out. I saw it on the Travel Channel (I think) and would love to stay there overnight!
