59th Bridge St Suites (on 60th) good or bad??

They offer longer term (1 month+) stays in N.Y. (apartment style) located at 60th street and 1st ave. Anyone in New York know of this place and care to comment -- good or bad? Is it safe area? Thanks in advance!

Don't know the place, but it's a perfectly safe, if boring, neighborhood. It's several blocks from the east side subway line, though.

I stayed in a Bridge Street Suites studio apartment for one month in 2001 while transitioning from one NYC apt to another.

Very Spartan, to say the least, but relatively clean and affordable. Air conditioning was marginal, and the apt was hot during the day and took a long time to cool down at night.

The area is fine, although it's just two doors east of the infamous "Scores," which can generate some late night noise. There's a Starbucks across First Ave and a great supermarket under the bridge. Plenty of restaurants/bars on First & Second Aves as well.

The subway is a hike, particularly now that the Third Avenue entrance is closed for renovation. One must walk to Lexington Avenue and deal with the Bloomingdale's crowd.

Otherwise it's a very convenient location to all things midtown, and the FDR is right there for trips downtown.

Ted, as always, you rock. Is there anything you *haven't* experienced in New York??? Many thanks to you for all your excellent & honest info over the years here.

Yes, thanks for the details, Ted. I'm not in N.Y. so I have to decide about subletting it from afar. Interesting how this is a "safe and boring" place, yet it's next to Scores! lol

Many thanks for the kind words.

Boring? Well, in general the Upper East Side is comparatively safe, clean & quiet. If that makes it boring, so be it.

In addition to Scores, the Bridge Suite Apartments are surrounded by dozens of un-boring bars and restaurants. (A few weeks ago I saw Derek Jeter leaving Merchant's, right around the corner on First Ave, with a bevy of hot babes. Let's ask Derek if the neighborhood is boring.)
