50th Anniversary Trip

Hi,

We are looking at taking our family of 12 on our 50th Anniversary trip next year. The ages of those traveling at the time will be: 68, 68, 44, 43, 41, 41, 15, 13, 10, 10, 7, and 4.

We would like to do something with activities instead of just a sightseeing trip. Unfortunately we don't like cruises.

We've considered Costa Rica and Atlantis in the Bahamas, but are very open to other suggestions. We are an active family and would enjoy staying pretty busy with opportunity for relaxing if we choose. We want to be sure the teens and older children in our party will have a lot of fun without excluding the 4 year old from too many activities.

We can spend upwards of $30k.

Suggestions and tips would be appreciated!

You'll get better replies if you repost in the appropriate forum: Caribbean for Bahamas, Central America for Costa Rica.

And say when during the year you plan to travel. That will have a huge influence on your trip and where you choose to go.

All activities in the Bahamas involve water, so if you're not beach people that's obviously not a good location. Costa Rica is better for wildlife and nature but not as good for beaches.

There is no better choice than Hawaii...$10 to $12 grand for airfare... house or condo rental... amazing water, cultural, and nature activities... great food, surfing and snorkeling for the kids... boat tours, history, and amazing weather...

Happy 50th in our 50th state...

Thank you, Gary. I've been looking at Hawaii and it seems like it could be really great for the whole family. My husband and I have been there a handful of times, and it would be fun to experience it through the eyes of the teens/tweens. Looking at Maui Resort as it seems to have a lot of activities the older kids and the adults would enjoy. I appreciate your suggestion!
