50 year olds in NYC

Celebrating 4 of us having 50th birthdays in New York City next month......what fun bars are there in Times Square/Theatre District area????

Are you looking for a trendy, upscale bar or a relaxed Irish-pub-style place?

I often bring friends to O'Flaherty's on West 46th between 8th and 9th. It's a large, fun bar...good for all ages. It has darts and a pool table and sometimes live music in the back room.

All women? Stealing an idea from another thread, how about seeing "Naked Boys Singing". What a hoot! It is not in the theatre district, however.

As Suzanne points out, "fun" means different things to different folks, so here's a range:
The View (a restaurant) at the top of the Marriott Marquis at 45th & Broadway rotates & provides...a view. I believe they have a bar up there but don't remember if it affords the same view.

The bar in the Algonquin Hotel (44th between 5th & 6th) is woody/clubby & famous

46th St. between 8th & 9th Ave is called "restaurant row" & has tons of places in all price categories.
Joe Allen's is a famous theater hang out with a good bar scene. You can also eat at the bar & may see some celebs.
Don't Tell Mama is also on this block & is a piano bar.
Chez Josephine (42nd st. between 9th & 10th aves.) is a french bistro with a bar. They have a piano player & the place has a "cage aux folles" type atmosphere (not gay so much as theatrical)
Cite & Cite Grill (51 st. between 6th & 7th aves.) are steakhouses with big bars (big pickup scene at bar at the Grill-you didn't say what you were looking for!) Have a blast.

Nancy: Have you been to NYC yet? Did you go see Naked Boys Singing? If so, what kind of audience was there?

This sounds perfect for 4 =50 yr old women:

Menopause The Musical
Playhouse 91

The hilarious celebration of women and The Change, this original parody chronicles the meeting of four women at a lingerie sale at Bloomingdale's with nothing in common but a black lace bra...and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, hormones, not enough sex and more.
