After seeing "50 First Dates" I checked, as area looked familiar but the eatery didn't. The movie cafe's wooden buiiding apparently is still there, boarded up. It's near Tropical Farms' Macadamia Nut Outlet, in Kaaawa, nr Kaneohe Beach Park, which, as Auntie said, is near Kualoa Ranch. (The scene where Drew hits the guy with the bat was filmed on a road through Kualoa Ranch.) Inside setting of the cafe, and scenes of the ocean from the windows, were created/ "set up" for the movie.
There IS a real Hukilau Cafe, further up the coast at Laie (near Polynesian Cultural Center) which is supposed to have great breakfasts--like the one in the movie.
Didn't make it to either the real Hukilau Cafe, or the film's wooden building, on last trip to Oahu, but that's what I love about that island..always more to plan on seeing next time!!!
(BTW, movie's last scene where upon awakening she looks out the ship's window, was filmed digitally and transposed over "Alaskan" water. Might have seen this on the DVD extra info trailer? )
