5 year anniversary trip ideas for March

I am in need of inspiration!! My husband and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary in mid-March. We want to take a one week vacation somewhere, but just can't find the right location. We live in FL, so were actually hoping to make it a "Winter" trip rather than something tropical.

We had planned on doing Jackson Hole and a snowmobile tour of Yellowstone, but many have told us if we are not experienced skiers, it may not be the best trip. (I have never been skiing.)

We have done all the major U.S. cities (San Fran, LA, NY, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, DC, etc.) and a lot of mountain-type trips.

I love traveling overseas, but DH prefers U.S. travel.

Has anyone done a terrific vacation they can recommend?

Thanks for any inspiration you may have! :-)

I like your Jackson Hole Yellowstone snowmobile idea. You do not need to be an experienced skier to snowmobile. But, you could try learning to ski in combination with this trip!

Go Skiing just go somewhere other than Jackson Hole. May I personally recommend Crested Butte Colorado. The town itself is an old charming Victorian mining town. It has great restaurants, a funky, friendly spirit. The mountain is small and easy to get around. The mountain resort is running some great specials that are ending soon. Check it out at www.skicb.com. There are lots of snowmobile companies in the area when you want to do something different, plus dog sleds, spas. etc.

You can fly to Dallas and then it's a quick flight to Gunnison/ Crested Butte.

Just be forewarned that mid-march is prime spring break time and anywhere you go in the mountains can get crowded so you will probably need to make dinner reservations and such but don't let that deter you.

Believe there are other discussions in Fodor's on this, but I really like the ole Victorian themed mining town - Park City, Utah -and all it has to offer - including Deer Valley next door, or the top of the Summit in Colorado is great - with Breckinridge, Keystone, Copper Mtn - and the quaint town of Frisco, or Aspen with it's family area - Snowmass - or more beginner hill - Buttermilk, or Vail - which I used to love but has become more built up, and Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood, Oregon is great - and there are fun things to see in Portland, and Lake Tahoe, Ca is georgeous with Squaw Valley or Heavely being the top two there, and the list goes on.............................

I would go to San Diego it is not listed on your list? March is not hot there - and there is so much to do and enjoy. :)

I also love to travel and have been to almost all parts of the US. You can try these places- Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Sun Valley, Idaho, Park City, Utah, Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Durango and Steamboat Springs in Colorado, Squaw Valley in California and Santa Fe. These have been some of our favorite holiday destinations and these have been our most memorable trips too.
You can definitely try these. I always recommend these places to my friends, Enjoy your trip and Happy Anniversary!
