5 reasons to travel right now!

Tourism is the biggest industry in the world, and it affects everything. I know many people are skittish to travel, but I have 5 reasons to travel, feel free to add your own.

1. Saftey at an all time high (even with lapses) resorts, cruiseships, etc. all have increased security.
2. Deals, deals, deals!!
3. Less crowded destinations (might be the best reason!)
4. Would help the economy greatly.
5. Get away from the stress of the past few months and show those cowardly bastards that America will remain free, strong and brave!!!

I think the people afraid to fly are ruining this economy. Canceling their trips left an right. Panic is dangerous and we all need to calm down and resume our normal lives.

Another great reason to travel, for those of us in the cooler climates, we can go to a warmer one, and get one last shot at summer!!
Then when you come back, Christmastime will be here with the beautiful white snow!!

Sure, we'd love to fly again, but we're not stupid...

yes, you are stupid. you're still more likely to die of food poisoning in your own home than you are of dying in a plane crash.

Come to New York and visit us!

To those who are afraid: the skies are no less safe than they were September 10th.

Nookie-More people die from falls in their own homes, bee stings, being overweight, car accidents, binge drinking, cigarette smoking, diabetes, and cancer. So, what are you going to do? Sit in a chair and avoid everything??? Life is risky! You can either choose to live or bury your head in the sand.

I think that the frightened people are the runs dragging us all down. You are playing into the terrorists' hand!!
Life is always full of danger, and quite frankly I'm embarrassed by the display. The world looks at us and sees us in a panic, how pathetic. That's not the America I want to show them.

Osama and his bunch tune in to CNN to see what is going on and what do they see? I hope they see American's resolve and determination! Jordan's right, get out and travel. The travel industry affects everyone from taxis, hotels, mom and pop businesses, restaurants, tour guides, airlines, rental car agencies etc.

The freedom to travel openly is one that should NEVER be taken for granted.
I love to roam the earth as much as I can, and I've seen many cultures where freedom is a 4-letter word. The terrorists got to us but good, and the ball is now in our court. Will we run away and refuse to play, or will we slam it back with a vengence??

The answer will determine the future of this great country, and of us all.

We have all been through an unprecedented trauma and are each dealing with it in our own personal way. Some of us are not yet ready to fly and that does not make us lousy Americans and it does not mean that we've given in to the terrorists - it means we're still healing. Having a husband who take the morning LA flights out of Boston every few weeks, I am still reeling from how close we came to being part of the tragedy - dont accuse me of trying to screw up the travel industry - when I stop waking up at night screaming, I'll be ready to start thinking about travel again - until then, please be patient.

Stop babying yourself. You don't realize that you are doing that, because you have had an easy life. He wasn't on the plane. You didn't lose anything but your American sense of absolute entitlement to 70 plus years of peace and dying in your sleep. Others right now are laying down their lives and some will not come home. Many didn't come home from the last time our country had to protect itself and others. My first husband did not come home from VietNam. Many people in the hospital nearest your home have real reasons to be crying in their sleep.

Reading posts like yours, xxxx, makes me feel real sorry for you and also damn mad. You are acting like a wimp and that's just what the Taliban think will occur with all of us. STOP IT because being a trauma case over what "might" have happened or happen in the future gets catchy, and we seem to have an entire group of Americans who think life has always got to be clean and fair, just for them. Guess what, it is never fair and you are a lucky one. Leave the moaning for the people who have lost somebody.

Apparently the chance of being killed in a plane crash is something like a million to one.I live in a state where about one million people drive a car and about 400 people are killed each year; carry out a simple division and the chances of being killed in a car is about 2500 to one, thats means you are 400 times more likely to be killed in a car than flying on a plane. I guess peoples fear stems from the fact that if a plane malfunctions midair, you just can't pull over on the side of the road. Also while travelling in a plane people develop an overwelming fear about dying in a crash which many of us preconcieve before we fly. Fear is our worst enemy and as they say, if you do what you have always done, then you will have what you've always got. We should dispell the fear and get on with the life we want to live, and not the one that you avoid because of sensationalism; Look at the statistics.

While people sit home, I'm having the time of my life requalifying for elite status and sitting in first class seats for dirt-cheap fares. I'm also picking up minimum level award seats for nice weekends that were very tough to find a couple of months ago, (although thankfully, the flights are beginning to fill up now.) To those who want to give up the opportunity, that is your choice -- but you ARE missing out, no question about it.

People like XXX are such an embarrassment, not only to themselves, but to this country. Screaming at night!! Please, if someone you knew died in a car crash, would you NEVER travel by car again?? There's no logic, it's just irrational fear, and it's very dangerous.

People like you are going to ruin us all. Jesus, just think of what this country what this country went through 50 yrs ago. They didn't put a pillow over their heads and wished it away, they stood up to evil. You shouldn't just benefit from the riches of America, you should also contribute as well. Go to therapy, get yourself together, and then join us in the real world. Where danger or a rainbow could be around the next corner. But you won't know until you take a stroll and face your fear. It's been this way since the dawn of time, as long as humans are around, evil will be as well. We must overcome that side of our species, and hiding ain't goin' do it!!!

Five reasons NOT to travel right now:

1. Airport security is still a sieve. So-called improvements are window-dressing. Bomb-screening on U.S. domestic flights is performed on less than 10% of the checked luggage at airports that have the equipment, and many airports have no bomb-screening equipment at all.

2. The economy is going into the toilet. The money you spend to travel today might soon be the money you'll need for food.

3. Two and three hour delays at baggage screening are unforgivable. Security screening stations should be fully staffed, but they are not.

4. Who wants to take a vacation if you have to look over your shoulder the whole time?

5. Osama bin Laden doesn't give a flying fig whether Americans throw out their chests and go lie on a beach. He just wants to blow us up again.

Travel if you want. Stay home if you want. It's your call.
