5 Days on Maui - Suggestions?

My husband and I are going to be in Maui for five days and don't want to miss out on the top things to do. We are staying at the Hyatt. Would appreciate your suggestions.

Please stop posting the same exact question.

Which Hyatt are you staying at? Do you want to shop, lie on the beach, hike, ride down hills, snorkle?

Dear you only need one, as the original poster said he is staying on Maui, there is only one Hyatt. In fact there is only one on each of the three islands Hyatt has hotels on-Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.

We are staying at the Hyatt in Lahaina. We are interested in snorkeling, biking and hiking. Not sure about the Road to Hana as I've heard it can be a traffic jam getting there and I'm not sure I wan't to be in the car all day but is it a can't miss??

Shane, the hyatt is actually on Kaanapali Beach a few miles north of Lahaina. Its an easy drive to all the restaurants in Lahaina however.

Snorkeling is great, just pickup one of the many "to do" brochures at the airport and inside you will find many, many different boats advertising snorkeling. I recommend Molokini for the first timers.

You can bike down the volcano. I would pass up the sunrise unless you really like getting up at 2 or 3 in the morning to get to the top from west maui by sun-up. Again the nrochures will have all the details. As for Hana, I did it once, would probably not do it again, it has great scenery is very colorful but you are right traffic especially midday can be awful and it takes a whole day to do it and get back.

Snorkeling is excellent in Molokini - any of the dive shops can handle that request (we used Maui Dive Shop). Another nice trip is the helicopter ride to Haleakala. We drove the road to Hana - I'm probably in the minority, but I didn't think it was worth the entire day it took..... I really like the Eye of the Needle park (if the weather is good). It's just beautiful. And then there's Haleakala itself - we drove up there, hairy drive - but it was beautiful.

I would suggest the Old Lahaina Luau. It's the best on the island. Do the Maui downhill bike ride but I wouldn't suggest the sunrise tour. You'll have to get up at 2 or 3 and stand the chance of not biking down until after the sun rises anyway...trust me, been there done that.
