5 day trip to SF

My husband and I will be arriving in SF on Jan.31 and staying until Feb 5. Would it be worth it to take a day trip to Napa? Seen may combined tours for Muir Woods and Wine Country and wanted to know if it would be worth it.

Muir Woods is worth seeing and if you enjoy wine a combo tour like that should be fun. Of course, you could rent a car for a day and do it yourself, but the idea of not having to drive would appeal to me. It is a pretty drive, although we haven't had enough rain yet this year to turn the hills very green.

Haven't been to Napa, but Muir Woods is definitely worth the time.

Have not been to Muir Woods, but have been to Napa and Sonoma... Napa is filled with wineries and tourists... Much preferred our experience in Sonoma with wine and olive oil tastings.

Well, I agree with ParrotMom that Sonoma is prettier and not so busy as Napa, and they are the same distance from SF, so I would find a couple of tours and compare.

wine country and muir woods would be a lot for one day. I would likely pick one or other. If wine country, I would likely drive as it's more fun to hit the smaller wineries (most require appointments) and you can stop and have a nice leisurely lunch (just be sure and have a designated driver).

I agree Sonoma is prettier (we're looking for property there currently), but think Napa is a bit more fun for wine country touring.

Some great smallish wineries/shops with fun tours: Frogs Leap, Napa Vintners Collective, Shramsberg, Chateau Potelle, Robert Sinskey and Ferrari Carrano (sp?) to name a few.

yountville is also a great place to stop for lunch (Redd and Bistro Jeanty are two favorites) or pick up lunch at the Dean and Deluca market and picnic at a winery that has tables.
