4th of July
On Kauai at the South Shore the old Waiohai had a terrific fireworks display on the 4th. Does the Hyatt Regency or Sheraton have a display? What about local festivities? It has been years but I remember the Big Save in Koloa had a whole aisle dedicated to fireworks. (you don't see that in Southern California any longer)

Hi Kahuna, Sorry, don't know answer. But I was wondering if the Hyatt is where Waiohai used to be? We haven't been there for a while either and haven't figured out what happened to it or was it just renamed and renovated? Looking at staying at Embassy Resort at Poipu this fall.

Kahuna:
There's a big annual 4th of July extravaganza at Vidinha Stadium -- starts in mid-afternoon, filled with fun stuff for families, on-stage performances, plus the night time fireworks. All proceeds benefit our Kaua`i Hospice. Not sure if Sheraton is still doing their fireworks anymore. And yes, you can still buy fireworks at our local grocery stores -- but permits are now required for purchase of firecrackers.
jg:
The old Waiohai property, is now the home of the new Marriott Waiohai. The Hyatt is further down the way, toward Shipwreck's Beach. Click on hotel/resort/condo names on this map, for details:
