YesItIsYesItIs Jun 26th, 2003 06:36 AM

Anything good from the nyc/newark area? Looking for a RT Maui, four people.

AAFrequentFlyer Jun 26th, 2003 06:37 AM

There are also deals on first class to HI from the east coast and midwest. $1200 on AA,UA,NW,DL that I know of, maybe others as well.

Reply to Yesitis Yesitis, I will top the post about "When is Hurricane Season in Hawaii", it lists recent roundtrips ~$600 NYC to HNL! $-)

JohnD.
You asked if anyone remembered aifare this low? From Salt Lake City Utah we paid 730.00 in May 2000. From Pocatello, Idaho we paid 365.00 in March 2002! (because of 911) and now we are going again March 2004 and fares are over $800.00!! A little spendy when you need 4 tickets! Just waiting for drop in price - hard to pay 700.00 or more after paying 365.00 in 2002!!! Anyone know of deals with Delta or Pleasant Holidays from West Coast? Thanks!

JohnD Jun 26th, 2003 10:15 AM

Reply to Rigsie,:-d I am happily surprized to find rates so low this year ($500-600) from the east coast because in 2000, 2001, 2002, we were paying $700-1,200 for a round trip ticket from NYC area to Hawaii. Perhaps it is just a reflection of changing or new airline routes or increased competition but it is very welcome. $-)
With regard to your situation, I have seen posts that say the best deals have come by bidding on Priceline.

Hotwire.com is offering trips to Maui out of Newark that begin at $985.00 and go up to $1545.00 person. This includes roundtrip airfare, hotel for 7 nights and all taxes and fees. They are also offering roundtrip airfare only at $659.00.

About a month ago I got roundtrip from L.A. to maui for $485 on American.

Regarding previous low rates - Dec after 911 we flew Las Vegas to Maui for $300 on less than a weeks notice. But I'm happy to pay much more as long as nothing like that ever happens again.

stevecat Jun 26th, 2003 03:22 PM

Hawaiian air is offering some really low after-summer rates, especially LAX to HNL which is about $300 RT. You also save another $20 by booking exclusively through their website.

Round trip Orlando-Honolulu is always about $500 round trip, this time of year and in January.

Findley Jun 26th, 2003 07:17 PM

From the east coast (New York City area) to Maui they have fares of $565 RT on Travelocity.com Pretty cheap.

Sarah Jun 29th, 2003 09:55 AM

yes but "findly" when you actually try to buy the ticket, it tells you it is not available. That is what happened to me anyway. I did book Newark to Honolulu July 16 return on August 3 for $652 last Weds.

I don't know why I feel like I missed the deals I paid $1050 August 2002, $750 in August 2001. Well perhaps this is because I won a bid of $484 in August of 2000. With all this deal chasing my miles are scattered all over the place and I still have not won that a frequent flyer ticket!!!
