4/15 to 4/21 - Pawley's Island or Cherry Grove Condo
We are coming to Myrtle Beach in April (I had an earlier post). We've decided to try renting a condo vs a hotel. We are going to be going golfing and dining. The thought of spring break was a litttle daunting (not sure when it is), so we were torn between North Myrtle Beach (Cherry Grove) small 8 unit condos (I think on Palmetto), or Pawley's Island (condo on True Blue Golf Course).
Pawley's sounds more secluded but 5 minutes from the beach. North Myrtle beach sounds more in the middle of stuff (review says it is close to the pier).
I'm torn and looking for some input. It's so hard to choose when you don't know the area. Any input would be appreciated. I need to get off the fence and make a decision before one or both are rented!

And that isn't really spring break. You will still have wall to wall traffic in Cherry Grove. Go to Pawley's. You might look at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort for a package and be closer to the beach. Litchfield is "Pawley's" also. They have hotel rooms as well as condos.

I am a Pawleys guy as well. If memory serves, True Blue is at the south end of the Pawleys mainland community. I agree with Gretchen, I'd take a look at Litchfield so as to be a bit more centered on courses and restaurants.

I think it (True Blue) may be where DSIL took some excellent golf lessons.
Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort is a beautiful property with a LOT of different places to stay. And some excellent packages. No traffic, good restaurants, beach, pools, tennis, golf, shopping as you like to have it nearby. There is just not the schtick that comes with Myrtle and NMB--and TRAFFIC.

You guys are awesome! Litchfield's seemed more expensive, thcugh not by tons. How far is the drive from Pawley's to, say, Myrtle Beach Central or North? The condo at Pawley's was reasonable and the woman seemed nice, but, of course, what does that mean? They're probably all nice!
We'll probably try to golf some nice courses and some medium nice courses, bum a little and have some nice dinners and then just chill. No stress from work or the kids!

Pawley's/Litchfield is 25 minutes to MB. We go to Litchfield 4 times a year and have never needed to go to MB.
There are any number of golf courses available nearby.
Did you look at golf packages at LB?

You need to be aware of a small community about 4 miles north of Litchfield called Murrell's Inlet. For at least 100 years [Oliver's Lodge] it has been the seafood restaurant capital of the coast. Restaurants are cheek to jowl. My favorite for years has been Lee's Inlet Kitchen but I am sure that most are quite good. The Inlet Kitchen is open only for dinner tho. For a quick and easy lunch try The Fish House in Litchfield.
Don't fail to check out Murrell's Inlet.

Oliver's nor Lee's are our favorite places, but there are probably 20 restaurants in Murrell's Inlet.
Our favorite for an oyster roast is the "fish house" style at Nance's. But they may not have roasts in April--not sure.
For a fine dining place in Pawley's there is Frank's--make reservations. The best restaurant on the coast 'til you get to Charleston--and then it's still in the running. We also love the Island Deli and Cafe in Pawley's--don't be put off by the name. Good restaurant. Their sister restaurant, Bistro 217 is also very good for fine dining.
Again up in Murrell's Inlet there is the Inlet Crab Restaurant--a funny little funky shack with really good seafood.
And the Seven Seas Seafood Market in Murrell's Inlet is the best--just past the Inlet Crab Restaurant, almost to the 17Bypass.
Creek Ratz is a cute place for lunch, and Bubba Love's Seafood Shack is also--good seafood and you can sit outside on the water. I know, I'm repeating myself!! Bubba Love is the chef at the next door restaurant whose name is escaping me--might be Bovines.
YOu might enjoy going to Georgetown for an afternoon--the historic district dates from Revolutionary times.
AND DO go to Brookgreen Gardens just north of Litchfield. It is a little treasure of sculpture gardens.

If you want to eat a really great breakfast out go to Eggs Up Grill. I think it has moved from where it was in the same place as the Litchfield Seafood Restaurant (has a shark coming out of the roof), and may have moved down to the BiLO shopping center area.

Thanks, guys! What a bunch of ideas. We are going to be staying in a condo at True Blue. The restaurant ideas are great, since we are not sure where anything is. I saw a lot of pictures of Murrel's Inlet and can't wait to check that out. Checked out air fare and found a good flight. Now, it will be checking out golf courses! Can't wait. Will be following fodor's until the big day! Can you tell we don't get out too much? Kids and work.........well, kids are gone (at least a few miles), and work? Well, vacation time is great!

You should google on line for MB area golf discount specials. I think you'll love this area over NMB. There is ALL you would ever want to do, great food, good shopping (go to Pawley's Hammock Shops--and then there are two huge outlet malls just up the road in NMB and on 501).

Hahahaha, weber6560 (BTW, is that your grill?),
I should live at Seewee. I should be so lucky.
What would you like to know about BB? I was in Lafayette in 2006 after Katrina (mental health support-looooong story) and spent time in Breaux Bridge. I loved it. It's just a cute little town with some amazing food. At Chez Jacqueline, she gave me a half cantaloupe with blueberries floating in port. Whoa. I bought yard art for my garden at a neat place- I wish I could remember the name of it. It's all in my garden now.
