4-Star Union Sq Hotel w/ Inexpensive Parking

Birthday getaway in SF from 3/2-3/4/07 and want to pamper ourselves but $43/night parking fees hurt. Any suggestions? We're also looking for a great play to see.
Thanks,
Christy

Jersey Boys is here!

There is a lot of public parking near Union Square. I know you can find plenty for way less that $40, but I think you should try www.sfgate.com for specific information. Happy Birthday!

You can get parking for around $22 a night, but at that price, you can't expect in and out privileges. You will have to leave the car there all day and it will be packed in among other cars so that they will have to move half a dozen cars to get yours out. They won't be happy if you come back half an hour later wanting to park there again.

Some hotels have parking packages, with parking fees bundled into the room fee. Sorry, I'm not familiar with 4 star properties myself.

This is the weekend of the Chinese New Year parade, expect crowds everywhere, make reservations ASAP.

The Stockton-Sutter garage is $33/night and the Embarcadaro garages are $28/night without in/out
privleges. I think you will have to go with the hotels if you want in/out ability. Consider priceline or some SF specials on Travelzoo which might get you a good deal on the hotel so that parking is less of an issue. Some hotels also charge less if you have a car vs truck or suv. Check also for hotel specials that include parking.

Thank you for the heads up on Chinese New Year!

We don't care about in-and-out access if that makes any difference on options.

If you don't need in/out, why don't you park free on a street and take public transportation or walk to Union Sq. Assuming that you arrive on Friday evening & leave on Sunday, you don't have sticker restrictions to contend with. You won't be able to find a place downtown, but park in the Noe Valley, for example, and take the J-Church in. Inbound on Friday won't be crowded, so your bags should not be a problem.
