4 days in Scottsdale and Sedona

We are traveling in early April to Scottsdale. We are nature lovers from Denver. Want some relaxation, but not likely to spend money in a spa (too expensive). Love to eat. I've done the old west thing a lot as a child, and not much in to history museums. Any recommendations on what we should do and see. Is a day trip to Sedona doable, or should we plan to spend the night? We were also contemplating hiking the trail to Havasu falls in the grand canyon instead of staying in Scottsdale. Any thoughts?

Spent 3-4 days in Sedona in April last year and felt like it was a perfect amount of time. Hiked and took jeep tours. Did a full day trip to the Grand Canyon ( was a long day but worth it). We stayed at the Amara resort and was great. It was next to a little creek and was very comfortable and new. If you go plan a lunch at the Enchantment resort. Great views and good food.

Love the Enchantment Resort for Lunch..
On the way back to Phoenix we like to go to Jerome for lunch at the
Jerome Grand Hotel, Asylum, its outstanding and its an old Hospital and very much haunted..
April is a good time to go to AZ..

Sedona is well worth a day trip. Jerome is a "must see" and the Asylum is my favorite restaurant. The Haunted Hamburger is great for a quick sandwich, sit outside on patio for beautiful views. In Sedona, visit the Chapel that is built into the red rocks, hike and visit Enchantment for lunch, absolutely beautiful!!! If you stay overnight call Briar Patch Inn and make reservations for breakfast, it is located on Oak Creek and they make everything homemade and roughly $10. Sit by creek with strolling harpists. Many good restaurants for all budgets. Email me for suggestions should you decide to stay over.

We have decided to spend 2 nights in Sedona. Any BnB recs for less than $200 per night. I found very few for that price. Or should we just stay in a regular hotel room and spend the whole day out (breakfast at the Briar Patch, hiking, dinner somewhere good)?

Hi Koala.,
Going in late Feb for 3 days, got a great rate of a 4* on Expedia for $154 for Sedona Rouge Hotel/Spa..looks great, only drawback would be the proximity to the road..has a restaurant, Reds..gets great reviews!
Coffee Pot is great for breakfast and across the street from the hotel.
Do stop by Jerome..cool, funky town.

Sedona Rouge is a brand new 4 Diamond Hotel in a great location....good price! Road noise should not be a problem and hae wonderful things about the hotel. Reds is a good restaurant.
Briar Patch Inn is a great B&B on the creek, Garlands is up Oak Creek Canyon and also charming....check out www.bbsedona.net for others, really can't go wrong with any of them.
