4 couples on Cape in August

We thought of renting a house, but we can't stay a week and it's looking like everything (expectably) is a week, minimum in August. If that doesn't pan out, anyone know of a nice inn somewhere (doesn't matter which town, as we will make our own fun) on the Cape? I'm not too familiar with anywhere except Ptown, so I'm open to suggestions.

Hi Native,

There are so many towns on the Cape, each with their own charm, all I can do is suggest some of the Inns I know, in various towns.
In Dennis, The Lighthouse Inn is right on the water, and quite nice.In this town you will fine the Cape Playhouse, and the Cape Cod Art Museum.
In Chatham, there are several. The Captains's Inn, The Moses Nickerson House, The Queen Anne Inn,and of course, the very expensive but beautiful Chatham Bars Inn, all favorites, and Chatham is fun in the summer, with much happening.
In Brewster which has a totally different feel, is The Captain Freeman Inn, and the Sea Pines Inn both on the Historic Kings Highway.
In Sandwich, the Belfry Inn is delightful, and has a wonderful Bistro. Also, the larger Daniel Webster Inn is in this town.

Give a shout if you needd other towns to make a decision. I would suggest you get on the Cape Cod sites to learn about the various towns and their accomadations.

My secret favorite is the Nauset Knoll. It's very modest with respect to accommodations but the setting is absolutely unbeatable, just above Nauset Beach.

Sea Pines Inn, Brewster.

Nice place, low key, mid-Cape.

The Wequssett Inn and Resort in Harwich/Chatham is right on Pleasant Bay...lovely location. But for those prices you may as well rent a house and just not stay for the entire week.

I've not stayed here, but it was recommended by others in the past and I had it bookmarked. I tried to book it last summer, but they were booked. I liked that there were suite type rooms with kitchens for a reasonable prices

You might find a house with room for four couples that is no more expensive than a B&B or Inn, but it will be unlikely that all the bedrooms have equal bed, bathroom facilities. You also will probably be responsible for upkeep as most houses do not come with maid service. Someone will have to clean up when you leave, take trash to the dump, wash toilets, etc.. That said, you will have kitchen facilities and can save by cooking your meals. Then someone will have to do the shopping for food, preparation and clean up after meals. If it's a relaxing time with friends that you're after, look for one of the places mentioned above and no one will feel like they were on a working vacation.
