4-5 days in Idaho/Wyoming

We are going on a rafting trip on the Salmon in late July this year. We though we would go a few days early as a side trip. So tentatively, we plan on flying into Idaho Falls and ending up in Stanley for the start of our rafting trip. From Idaho Falls, we can either spend 2 1/2 days in Grand Teton National Park or head south to Bear Lake for those 2 days. The next 1-2 days, we would drive to Stanley, stopping at Craters of the Moon on the way.

Any suggestions or an alternate itinerary of must-do sights to see on our way to Stanley? We have spent time in Boise a few years ago as well as Yellowstone/Ennis just last year. We have 7 and 10 year old girls. We like hiking but my girls will only tolerate shorter hikes. No rafting since we will get our fill on the Salmon. Love wildlife. Scenic drives. Maybe horseback riding if it's a more unique experience and doesn't take up a whole day unless it includes scenery we would otherwise target for that day.

We don't have to fly into Idaho Falls - just thought it would be easier to return the rental car in the same state.

Flying into and out of Boise may be a cheaper option (bigger airport). I would go to Grand Teton if Yellowstone is not an option.

I would take Grand Tetons over Bear Lake in a heartbeat. Do the bike path in the Tetons--lots of fun. If you search my user name, you will find a trip report for Jackson. We did plenty of different things. Had a great time.

Craters of the moon is other worldly. if you do fly into Idaho Falls--check out the Museum of Eastern Utah. They have fantastic traveling exhibits--a fun break.

It would be on your way from Idaho Falls to Stanley.
