Didn't the Stooges originall act as "second bananas" for some other comedian? The act was billed as "__________ and his 3 Stooges". I can't recall the original gentleman's name, but when the act split up, he disappeared into obscurity and Larry, Moe and Curly/Shemp took off on their own. The rest is history.
