3 night trip to vegas

Looking for some ideas for day trips and shows and other fun things to do in Vegas for our 3 night 4 day trip. Of course we will gamble to.

If you are hiring a car, its worth a trip to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.

A tour I took was to Red Rock canyon by "Red Rock Jake". An excellent and informative guide that lasts for about 3-4 hours. There is usually a leaflet in your hotel room or they are in the yellow pages.

You will get a lot of "coupons" for flights over Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon but they are all pretty much the same prie and I found the 1/2 hour flight over the Grand Canyon didnt do it justice. If you want to see it, take a trip that lands and allow you to walk to the rim.

As for shows, you are spoilt for choice but book in advance if you can.

Enjoy!

Just got back from there and strongly suggest the Valley of Fire state park on 15 north of Las Vegas. Some fascinating rock formations and petroglyphs, as well. I've got a few pix of the latter up in the last album at http://community.webshots.com/user/bookhall .

george, your pictures are gorgeous! It makes me want to pick the west for our next vacation...so beautiful, what time of year were they taken?

sorry, I am referring to the Zion NP photos, and I now see you were there this month?

Thanks for the compliment, Patty. We were out there a couple of weeks ago. Flew into Vegas, spent the first two nights in Zion, the third at Bryce, the fourth in St. George, and the last three at the Rio in LV.

The first picture in the Zion album was taken from the dining room in the Zion Lodge when we were having breakfast. The sight of the sun hitting the tallest peak there is burned in my memory. I am glad I caught it with the camera, as well.

We did no gambling. But we saw some scenic highlights of a lifetime...

Got some more pix, and annotations, to go up later.
