3 (I hope easy) Hawaii Honeymoon ?s
I'm planning a July 2004 honeymoon to Hawaii (Maui and Kauai). I'd like advice on:
1) Which island to do first? 2) Will Princeville area be really rainy in July? 3) Which Island to do hotel/resort and which to do a condo? Thanks! |
1. Makes no difference
2. Probably not 3. Makes no difference (you could also do hotels on both or condos on both). |
Hi Sara,
Hawaii is my favorite place on earth (so far). I was married on Kaua'i, so I am a bit biased. Please keep in mind that I've only been to Maui once. If it were me, I would probably do Kaua'i first. It does rain every day there - it's the garden island - but I would think you'd get less rain in the summer. The rain doesn't last long, and you're going to see some gorgeous rainbows. I think I would do the condo thing on Kaua'i, and a resort on Maui. There is more to choose from resort-wise on Maui. Plus if you do Kaua'i first you'll still have the pampering to look forward to on Maui. Have a great time! We're going next month. |
The Wife and I went to Kauai and Maui on our honeymoon. We went to Kauai first and would do it the same way again.
After all the time leading up to the wedding(and the stress too) it was better for us to go to Kauai first. Kauai is a little more lay back, less to do, and from the moment you step off the plane you can practically feel the stress wash away. After we had a while to just unwind we were off to Maui where we did a alot more sightseeing etc. You really cant go wrong either way! BTW I would second neens idea to do resort on Maui and condo Kauai. Aloha! |
I agree to do Kauai first but for different reasons. Personally, I think Kauai, while laid back, has a lot more exploring activities to do (hiking, etc). It's nice to do that and then finish off the trip with a little more relaxation on Maui.

Thanks everyone!

Hey Sara,
My wife & I did the Maui/Kauai honeymoon back in February and I personally would recommend Maui first and then Kauai (the way we did it). If I were to do the trip again and did Kauai first, I wouldn't be able to get on the plane to go to Maui. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed Maui very much....but we fell in love with Kauai. |
