3 hours in Houston? HELP?
hello:
next sunday we will have a three hour layover in Houston, b/w 12:30 and 3:30 p.m., we do not want to be stuck in the airport that long. Any suggestions on something to do or a place to have a nice lunch. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks, Nicole |
Which airport? IAH or HOU? There honestly isn't a lot to see/do by either. My only suggestion would be to take an expensive cab ride to a local eatery for a bit. Once you let us know which airport, we can make some restaurant suggestions.
By the time you arrive, go thru security if you have to, and meet your connection, three hours is honestly not that long of a time for a layover. I have longer than that quite often, but we'll try to give you some tips! |
I'm with Statia. Three hours isn't enough to get anywhere interesting and still get back with a comfortable margin of time.
I'd stay in or near the airport, especially since there really ain't a lot to do close by the airport area (either IAH or HOU). If you just want to grab a nice lunch, I'd almost recommend staying in the airport itself and heading over to the new Terminal E where, upstairs, you'll find a new Pappadeux restaurant. It's probably as good as anything you could find within easy cab distance of IAH. Buen viaje! Mark www.tiogringo.com |
It is IAH airport in Houston. I am just trying to avoid sitting in the airport for 3+ hours, so any and all suggestions are welcome. thanks. nicole

All the above advices are right on. Do not get out of the airport, and there's nowhere worth going anyways. Go to the new Pappadeaux at Terminal E, as TinoGringo suggested.
IAH cabs go by zone. Just getting on one to northern part of Houston means a minimum charge of $33.50. Roundtrip, and you've already bought yourself a nice lunch at Pappadeaux. If you don't like your dining choices at Terminal E, you may try the Marriott between Terminals B & C, accessible by the underground train on the landside. |
If you leave the airport you could be stuck in traffic longer than three hours in Houston!!!

That's what I was going to reply, ski4 me! :-) Having sat in Houston traffic more times than I care to recall I wouldn't leave the airport. IAH has a lot of nice shops, restaurants...I would cool my jets there.
