3 Generations - where to travel in August?

Need a recommendation for someplace in US for a multigenerational family vacation. Grandparents, parents, and four girls, 9 & 10 years old. Hawaii?

I have never been to Hawaii.. but from all the posts I have read.. it sounds marvelous..
Have you seen any of the theme parks here in the states?
Disney, Epcot, MGM, Universal.. SeaWorld...
There is Williamsburg, VA.. I went with friends last spring..LOTS of history.. and WONDERFUL for families!
The area is beautiful as well..Moticello is near it too...
By the way.. I think its AWESOME your whole family is doing this together:)
Have a wonderful time with whatever you decide!

In terms of travel destinations in the United States, Hawaii is first and foremost with nothing that comes even close.

Depends a lot on from where you are traveling and how long you have. Would not want to go to Hawaii for a long weekend from the east coast, for example. More info, please.

We are coming from Chicago and have about a week. We are now thinking about the Outer Banks of NC. Another idea was Sun Valley. Hawaii would be top pick -- the big island -- but I'm having trouble finding accomodations. Ideally, we'd like to rent a house. We want a pool, and want to be within walking distance to a swimming beach too. THANKS.
