3 Days in the Spring...Where Should I Go?
I have the last three Fridays in April off work and would like to go somewhere for one of them. I'm asking for Fodorite suggestions because I'm open to new ideas...
I'd like a non stop flight from Indy since I have such a short time to be gone. I'll leave Thursday evening or Friday morning and return home on Sunday nite. As for details- My husband and I are in our 40s and we like active vacations. Unfortunately DH won't do a city vacation as he travels to DC, Chicago, and NYC often for work. We're already going to FL for spring break, to AZ in early summer and LA in late summer. Should I consider waiting until right up to the last minute and use site59? I have no experience with the site. |
Spring in the South has always sounded lovely to me. Would your husband consider Savannah or Charleston or Hilton Head?

Hey bennnie, funny you should mention those cities. Charleston went through my mind. I went there in about sixth grade and haven't been back since. Food is always a factor for us and I bet there are really good restaurants in both Savannah and Charleston.

GoTravel recently posted a great detailed description of the hotels and restaurants in Charleston and the shoe stores too!!! Her post certainly whet my itch to go there.
GoTravel's Most Excellent Weekend In Charleston As A Tourist! (and I checked out a ton of hotels)is the title of the post. |
Oh no!!! I'm a shoe freak! Thanks for the heads up.

If I had 3 days, I would probably go to www.luxurylink.com or www.travelzoo.com (at TZ, click on "resorts & spas"), and see what comes up. There may be a great deal at a place that never even crossed your mind. What fun! :)

Thanks for the website tips. I checked out travelzoo and found five days hotel & air for under $600/person from Indy. Can't be gone that long but that is an awesome rate.

Just an update- I'm trying to find a destination that I can get to non stop from Indy. NO flights are too expensive, don't want DC, NYC, or Baltimore... Need to save Savannah or Charleston for a longer stay as too much time is taken up getting there. I'm looking at flying into Jacksonville FL and driving to Saint Augustine or going to Ft. Myers. I've been to FM, doesn't thrill me as its your basic beach destination and I'm already doing that in late March.
Anyone know how to find out where all the airlines fly to nonstop from a particular city without visiting every single airlines' websites? |
