3 days in Las Vegas. HELP!

My boyfriend and I will be spending 4 nights in Vegas in mid September. Could anybody please help with a cheap but nice hotel that doesn't really require a bre-booking. Also some ideas for what 2 young Aussies can do in Vegas besides gambling would be great.
Thanks for your help
-Michelle.

There are so many hotels, all with themes. Nothing quaint. Hard Rock Hotel is off the strip and filled with young people. Not cheap though. The Rio Hotel is another that is off the strip. The rooms are affordable considering they are all suites. Don't miss Treasure Island's show "Mystere". It is a must see. It's exotic, very entertaining. Good Luck!

Aladins has a great special for dinner . It is in the front cafe not the buffet area-steak and lobster for $7.99 and is very good. We had a rental car and drove to Hoover Dam, the Tour was very informative. I also heard that the Valley of Fire was really nice but we ran out of time. The motels on the strip seem to be a bit pricey. When we drove to Hoover Dam we passed some hotel/ casinos that had cheap prices....around $29.00 I do not recall the names of these casinos but they were about a 15 - 20 drive from the strip. I was also told that the casinos that are not on the strip pay better for the slots. Sorry, I couldn't help with names of hotels, I have only been to Vegas once.

Las Vegas is my kind of town. There are a great many free attractions like the volcano at the Mirage, the Pirate fight at Treasure Island, The Freemont Street Experience in downtown. There is really a lot to do that won't cost you a dime. Just going through the hotels and casinos is fun. Hoover Dam is close by. Enjoy your vacation, it will be one your best.

We just got back from Vegas. Don't miss the Fremont Street Experience downtown. Think it starts at 8PM with very brief shows on the hour for 4 hours. It was worth the trip downtown. We had not been downtown in about 10 years and it has changed--at least the Fremont Street Experience part! Good luck.

The Imperial Palace is a good place for budget minded travelers. Its also close to the nicer casinos like Caesers Palace and the Mirage. If your are into bargain shopping there are two good outlet shopping centers farther along the strip.

Try the Palace Station. It is off the Strip but has a regular shuttle service for the 10 minute drive. It has great rooms, for a very good price and the buffet is one of the best.

If you're still a kid at heart try the amusment park at the MGM casino. It's cheap and really good value with good shows and short lines for the rides. Go and watch the acts at Circus Circus and don't miss a trip to the Hoover Dam or maybe out to the Grand Canyon though it is a long way. We stayed at the Westward Ho which we found good value, with very big rooms and swimming pool or jacuzzi outside virtually every door. Have fun!

The Rio is very nice and away from the Strip, but has shuttle bus that goes to MGM and Caesar's. The things to do in Vegas are too numerous to mention. Watch Treasure Island act that has 2 ships doing battle with pyrotechnics, white tigers/dolphins/erupting volcano at Mirage, flamingos and penguins at Flamingo Hilton, Caesar's forum shops with dancing fountain every hour, Fremont Experience downtown requires taking the bus(but don't miss it), monorail between Bally's and MGM, and Rio's dinner show and buffet are OUTSTANDING. Bring your tennis shoes because you'll do lots of walking. Cheap rooms can be gotten sometimes at Excalibur or Tropicana too.
