3 days in Charleston?

Thanks to those who steered me away from Key West the end of October. We are booked from 10/27 thru 10/30 in Charleston and will arrive around 5:00. I'm wondering if there will be enough to do within the city for that length of time. Since we will be driving back to Florida, I'm wondering if we should leave Charleston on 10/29 early in the day and stop in Savannah for the remainder of the day and evening? A drive over to Kiawah and save the Savannah trip for another, longer stay?

I would play it by ear. See how the time goes. That way you won't be pushed to see everything you want to see in Charleston. If you can, go to Magnolia Place and Middleton Gardens. You can stop by Savannah on your way back to Florida if you have time. Otherwise, leave it for another trip.

Trust me, you will not want to leave Charleston once you get there.

Shop on King Street. Some of the best shopping in the US.

Walk the city. So many places just to sit and be peaceful. Walk through the side streets and just check out the houses.

If Charleston Chops is still in existence, please eat there. We had the best filet oscar there a few years ago -- by far the best meal we've ever had in a restaurant. If you go to Savannah, be sure to eat the The Lady and Sons Restaurant - yummy!!

Hi misscarol, I went to Charleston with OWJ for 3 days last April. Think we arrived early afternoon, stayed the next day and left late morning the 3rd day. It was a fantastic trip. And we sure could have visited a lot more places. Thanks to GoTravel's trip report we were pretty organized. I wouldn't rush out of Charleston any quicker then I had to. It is such a beautiful city, wonderful restaurants (again GoTravel's recommendations) and there is so much to see. Have a beautiful time!
