3 day pass for SF
I think I read somewhere that 3 day passes were available for getting around downtown SF. We would have 2 adults and 3 youth (14, 12, and 10 years old). Is this a reasonable idea for us? We're staying at Comfort Inn by the Bay. Where do we buy the pass? To what does it entitle us? Is a cable car ride included? other helpful things to know?
Thanks. |

3-day pass is $18 for adult, I don't think they have any for children. A ride for adult is $1.50, good for 1.5 - 2.5 hours, depends on the driver :) For a child it's $.50
http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mfares/passports.htm It looks, the same passes are listed on the cable car site, only the price is not updated? not sure... http://www.sfcablecar.com/riders.html |
By the way, if anyone can ever explain how you know what time the bus transfer they give you is supposed to be good till, I'd be curious. they are torn off at an angle and I've never ever been able to figure them out. Most people seem to wave a transfer at the driver and all's well, but I'd be curious to know how to actually read those things.

On the left, there are numbers for hours. On the right, 00 or 30 for minutes. There is no clear way to read those things, just make a pleasant face, "wave a transfer at the driver and all's well" :))
I bet the drivers don't know either how to read the transfer :) |
Ditto what Dayenu said. The transfer ticket is torn off in a way that it tells you what time the transfer ticket is good until.
The few times we used it, we found the transfer time was a lot more lenient that what it was supposed to be. |
