3-4 hours from Columbus, Ohio?

Hubby decided we should go away next weekend. Lined up my mother for the kids and now we can't figure out where to go! On such short notice all the state park resorts are full. Not into amusement parks or casinos. Here are the constraints: not more than 3-4 hour drive each way, must have access to good food, someplace with a swimming pool (it is HOT in the MidWest), a resort would be nice, but we only want to spend less than $150 night (thanks, I already looked at the Greenbriar and it is WAY more than that). Any suggestions fellow Fodorites??

A few suggestions:

1. Seven Springs and/or the Laurel Highlands region of Pa. www.7springs.com and www.laurelhighlands.org

2. Hocking Hills. www.hockinghills.com

3. Oglebay Resort near Wheeling, West Virginia. I just clicked on their website, they have a summer package for next weekend still available; and yes, they have a pool. www.oglebay-resort.com

Oh wow KMK, I was just looking at 7 Springs and thinking it might work. Wondering how far it is. I love Ogelbay Park but we always go there in Nov/Dec for the light show - a great time especially if you have kids. Hocking Hills might work, but most of those places don't have accesss to a pool, I believe, just hot tubs. Thanks, will investigate.

The OU Inn in Athens has a nice pool if I remember correctly. Good places to eat and close enough to Hocking Hills for hiking. There was some construction at the Inn when I was there in the winter, so I'd check that out first.

Did you check the West Virginia State Parks also?

I'm always interested in finding a nice place in the general vacinity that you are looking. Let us know what you find.

Check out Nemacolin...you might be able to get a B&B package for just a little more than $150/night.

Thanks gottagetaway, Nemacolin looked perfect. I went to their web site and it looks goreous, got real excited. Looked at TripAdvisor, so far, so good. Then I filled in our dates. Sorry, $425/night for a superior king room even if it has a whirlpool is too rich for us. If price wasn't the limit, we would be going to the Greenbriar. Thanks for the suggestion.

7 springs in a good suggestion. You may also want to check out the Deep Creek Lake area on the WV/MD border near Morgantown. It is beautiful there.
