3-4 day Hawaiian excursion?

After a trip to a golf centric beach resort, we would like to get away from the crowds for a few days. We were thinking that Molokai or Lanai would be quieter than Maui and BI. Can anyone recommend a nice/clean hotel on the beach?

Thanks,

John

I could be wrong, but I believe on Molokai and Lanai you have very few choices for hotels. Molakai is the Sheraton, and Lanai is the Manele Bay (on the beach) or the Lodge at Koele (both Starwood Properties).

On which island will you be staying in a golfing resort? That might help. There are lovely quiet places on each of the larger islands without resorting to Lanai or Molokai. The north shore of Kauai and Hana on Maui both come to mind...

After more research, it looks like Lanai and Molokai may be too quiet for us. We are now looking at the Big Island, since we have already been to Kauai (which we loved). Currently our vacation will be a week on Oahu with family (they live there now). After which we are looking to escape for 4 days to the Big Island (never been) to a nice hotel, on a nice beach, in the warm sun. We want to relax near the water, and maybe spend a day driving to some nearby sites. A friend suggested the Hapuna Beach Prince, and the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. We appreciate any feedback on these, or alternative accommodations. If we have a choice, we are interested in a smaller resort with fewer crowds.

Thanks,

John

Mauna Kea! We loved the Mauna Lani but it is big. The Travel Channel did a report on the Mauna Kea and it's fabulous beach - Ono!

I don't think you can go wrong with the Hapuna Prince, the Mauna Kea or the Mauna Lani. They're all wonderful resorts. The Four Seasons and the Orchid (formerly the Ritz) are very pricey but beautiful! I've never stayed there, but I understand the Kona Village Resort is very quiet (no phones, no TV, etc.). The Big Island is our absolute favorite. We've been to them all, and this is the one we now always come back to.
