2nd Wedding Anniversary - Trip Suggestions

My husband and I will be celebrating our second wedding anniversary the second week in November. We both have off from work from November 10 (Sunday) until November 15 (Friday). My husband has to go back to work on Saturday the 16th, so 5 night is our limit, unfortunately!

We love the beach and sunshine. We would be departing from Philadelphia airport since we live in Salem County, New Jersey.

My thoughts are South Beach, Bahamas, Aruba or even Cancun. Does anyone have any idess that could be under $1,000 (including airfare) for me?

I appreciate all of your suggestions.
WOuld you consider Las Vegas or Reno? The rates are pretty low right now.
Sounds like you want some fun in the sun! Aruba is a long flight 4+ hours, so I'd look for a good Cancun package. You should be able to find something for $1,000 easily in Cancun since your time frame is low season for them.

St. Martin Grand Cayman

2 of our fav islands.....great sun and shopping

What about a 3-4 day cruise?

Happy 2nd!

Just checking in on the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!! I like the Cancun and St. Martin/Grand Cayman ideas.

Las Vegas or Reno may be a little too long of a flight for us with a limited amount of time to spend, although we do hope to get there one day soon because my Godmother lives in Reno.

Thank you for the anniversary wishes!
You best check with the state Department's page cause there's some warnings out on safety for Americans travelling in the Caribbean and I think st Martin was one of them. If there is a travel advisory again it you'd be wise to pay attention to it.

There is always a travel warning for Americans traveling to the Caribbean. Jamaica has one of the worst (because of Kingston) if you read it. They are usually too vague to be of any real use. Kind of like Tom Ridge.

Vegas is a GREAT idea. We are going the beginning of November for our anniversary and it's only costing us $640.00. Air and Hotel total for 2 people. Staying at the Aladdin which is a very nice hotel. I've been there before. We are not Big gamblers, just play the slots a little and love Vegas. We enjoy the food, shows, sight seeing. We live in Michigan and the flight is only 3 1/2 hrs. I'm sure yours isn't more than 4 hrs. I'd consider Vegas if I was you.
Good Luck & Congrats!

Oh I forgot to mention we are going for 4 nights/5 days during the week- Monday-Friday deal.

If you're on the east coast National Airlines has just announced a fare sale to Vegas and Reno. That should be able to help!!

Why do you all keep pushing Vegas at her when she already said not this trip? Yikes! She also lives fairly close to Atlantic City.

That said, the Key West may be a nice trip for your anniversary.

call 1-800-343-9244. it is a recording of last minute-ish trips to the Caribbean from Philly. We have used this service 2 times and been pleased (Bahamas and Playa del Carmen).

We have our 2nd anniversary coming up as well and we had to figure out the same thing - with our focus being on "least hassle" trip. We ended up getting incredible flights to Florida (we're in CT). We're staying on the West Coast of Florida at a resort - and our biggest thing is going to the Everglades. Our focus is a) relaxation and b) get away from home..... We're going for 4 days.

You're willing to go to Cancun, but Las Vegas is too far? Have you checked a map lately?

teddy Oct 14th, 2002 11:55 AM

You should consider a trip to Europe. It's a lot cheaper than you might think.

See frommers.com.

There are frequently flights out of AC to Florida is that any closer?

xxx Oct 14th, 2002 12:21 PM

Cancun is 2 1/2 hours and Vegas is 4 from the east coast.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. I appreciate all of your suggestions.

The winning trip is:

airfare for 2 from PHL - MIA ($150, including taxes and other fees). I saw a deal for $118 on Travelocity using the flexible option and called US Air directly and asked if there was a companion fare available. They said yep -- for $1!!! Sold!!!

We are staying at The Tides in South Beach for 4 nights. Can't wait!

Thanks again.

Anne Oct 14th, 2002 12:53 PM

Have a great time! South Beach is fun!

Ralph Cifaretto Oct 16th, 2002 02:46 PM

I tried to get the same companion fare that the original poster did and was told no way. What gives? Did you need to use any FF miles?
