Aziza just got a great review from the food writer in the SF Chronicle. He Gave it ***1/2 - only about 5 restaurants have ****. Gary Danko is a ***1/2 & Boulevard is a ***. It's one of our favorite restaurants. We may go there this Saturday.

He also had a not-so-good review of Tartine - gave it **1/2 & said it was overpriced.

Before you plan to visit the Ferry Bldg on Sunday, you might inquire about what's open & what time it opens. Several of the shops like Sur la Table are regular chain stores, with 10-6 hours. Sunday morning might be real slow there. To see it at it's best, I would try to make it on Friday or Sat when the restaurants are humming. Perhaps if the weather looks nice & predictable, swap Sat & Sunday so you can see the Ferry Bldg farmer's market. Pt Reyes often is foggy when SF is sunny.

There is Tartine Bakery and Bar Tartine. I assume the review was of Bar Tartine?

Good idea to check store times for Sunday, in Ferry Bldg. I'm thinking maybe we can do lunch there on Friday, before going to GG Park (or perhaps swapping weekend days). Stu, thanks for the tip on the weather.

JRob, everyone has their idea of what inexpensive means, but... i simply went on Travelocity and reserved car with Enterprise (Standard/Int. size) for $29/day (the unavoidable taxes are like another $12/day). That's cheap to me... $125 for 3 days.

On top of that, Kimpton's been running a special rate if you stay 3 nights; we got a room at the Hotel Triton for $118/night.

Think about substituting Bodega Bay for Pt. Reyes and visiting the town of Sonoma while you're up there. The town has a sweet town square with cute shops and restaurants, and wine tasting is right there, too.

I haven't eaten at Bar Tartine. CarolM, to be sure, I was talking about Tartine Bakery, which Mark Bittman in the NYT called his favorite bakery in the United States!
