2nd Avenue Deli in NYC closing

The Second Avenue Deli in NYC is closing because it can't afford the rent. Such terrible news.

yeah, its a total bummer. 2d Avenue Deli is the best deli in Manhattan bar none. Arties on the Upper West Side and Sarge's are OK, but 2d Avenue is in a different universe. (In addition, it is a genuine kosher deli, not "kosher style" (what on earth is that? Someone who sort of looks Jewish supervises food preparation?)

In the boros there are still good options. The Mill Basin Deli and Adelman's are still holding their own in Brooklyn. I think (but am not certain) that Pastrami King is still in Forest Hills/Rego Park in Queens. There is also a really good kosher deli in Riverdale called "Liebman's" (on 235th street) that no one really knows of. Beyond that, I may need to fly to L.A. to go to Cantors or Nate and Als at this rate.

They will try to reopen elsewhere. It certainly will be missed in the E. Village.

I also just read that McHales Bar, a Times Square icon forever is closing to make room for a 46 story condo complex. And some call this progress...........
