26 Glacier or Kenai Fjord Cruise
Thanks in advance for the help. I only have time for one cruise. I will be based at the Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. I have narrowed the choice down to Kenai Fjord Cruise or the 26 Glacier Cruise out of Whittier. I love wildlife and landscape photography and I'm doing a Glacier Flightsee and a Bear Viewing trip on other days. What would you recommend? Thanks!

With the Kenai Fjord Cruise, if you take the longer cruises, you will be taken up close to a glacier and go by a few others. On the way, all the boat captains are talking to each other looking for whales so they don't take just one route--they are actually going to where the whales are, if possible.

We've only taken the Kenai Fjords cruise out of Seward. It was great. We visited Whittier in 2004 because DH had to go thru the tunnel (civil engineering background) but Whittier is a former secret military base and Seward it a nice little town with interesting shops and more activity.

If you are fixed on Girdwood, then it makes little sense for you to do a Kenai Fjords boat tour, which will add at least 4 hours in travel time for this "day trip". IF you wish to reconsider and stay in Seward, then take a Kenai fjord boat tour. Otherwise, I would just do a Prince William sound boat tour, with the 11am Esther Passage tours excellent.
If you wish one of the "best" options, then go with Sound Eco.

BQ-Is Sound Eco the company that does the Esther passage tour?
We were planning to do a 8/9 hr Kenai fjord boat tour when we were in Seward and a PWS cruise when we were in Girdwood. This would not be repetitive, right?

Thanks for all the info. If I'm heading to Seward anyway for other activities and wildlife is my main goal, would you do the Kenai Fjord? I love the look of the Sound Eco trips. Thanks for that tip!!
