sounds like fun, tho' hotter than the dickens - it keeps me from visiting outside my comfort zone (Jazzfest). As for restaurants, Cochon is very happening, to the point we couldn't get in this spring. The chef is the same who took over at Herbsaint, which is doing very well under his guidance. The bohemian spirit is there, it just may have moved a little. Try venturing onto Frenchmen Street one night for food & music, then head uptown to Magazine and do the same. Very nice contrasts in funkiness!

Cafe Marigny is very good, but my one of favorite meals last trip was Adolpho's (Zagat-rated believe it or not!) above the Apple Barrel, cash only, but the veal ocean, WOW!. Have you eaten at the Praline Connection? It's tops for refined soul food, with 3 great greens choices. Feelings Cafe is a must if you want romantic & intimate old-school grace; and Wasabi is our go-to place for great sushi. If you have a car, or don't mind cab'ing a bit - I really want to try the Sunday featured chef events at Bacchanal Wines out by Vaughan's in the Bywater.

Mimi's is at Royal & Franklin - about 4 blocks the other side of Elysian Fields, so it's a hike from Frenchmen St. They have music on weekends, maybe weeknights, too, and serve small plate-type tapas fairly late in the evening. Have fun!
