THANK YOU!!!!!!

When you went did you spend time in Valdez? Did you like? Debating ff Sat or slow friday....

centralpa Jan 30th, 2008 06:23 PM

We didn't spend much time in Valdez. We took the ff on Saturday, visited the Valdez Museum and it's annex, did laundry at the laundrymat while eating a hawaiin pizza from No Name Pizza next door, repacked for the fly in to WSE, took a drive out toward the oil refineries and drove to our B&B about 7 miles out of town (The Lake House). Left from there the next day for drive to Chitina for 2:30 flight to WSE.

Regrets? Yes, sorry I didn't do a trip to Columbia Glacier. Also, if my knee wasn't bad, I would have liked to do some hiking up at Blueberry Hill(?). Ferry to Cordova next time also.

Too much to do. Need multiple trips!

Centralpa,

FYI, Valdez does not have a refinery. What you see are oil storage tanks that hold crude from the North Slope waiting to be loaded onto oil tankers for transport to lower 48 refineries.

tigerman

You are so right. I typed refineries without even thinking about it. Thanks for clarifying.

Centralpa,

Yeah, looking at your username, I figured it must have been a typo. But I could not let it pass - feel the need to clear up misinformation about Alaska as much as possible - especially as others read these threads.
