I know, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Buffett, Stevie Wonder, Widespread Panic, and others are headliners.

It's looking to be similar to the 2001 Jazz Fest, which was the best attended one ever.

We went in 2006- it was great! We're booking the trip for the second weekend right now!

After going to New Orleans in Dec. most every year since 1996, I'll be at the first weekend of the Jazz Fest. Looks like a great line up.

From what I understand- public transportation is easy to get to the Fairgrounds?? It lists the 42 bus and Canal Streetcar- city park. How far is the walk to the fairgrounds, and is it really as convenient as mentioned??

When we were there in 06, several hotels (at least 4) had buses to get you there and back- and you were let off inside the fairgrounds. I'm pretty sure it was under $20 round trip for both of us.

The Canal Streetcar (City Park/Museum line) will take you to NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art), and you'll have a few blocks to walk from there. It's not that far.

Or, you can take a cab or shuttle from your hotel.

On the way back, because the cab waiting area is way too packed, you'd be better off walking back to the Canal Streetcar stop at NOMA and taking it back. The cabs can take hours, especially if someone famous performed.
