2 Weeks until DC trip....Last minute questions!
 

Leaving for DC on October 1st and I just have a few last minute questions.

1) I once hear about free concerts at 6pm at the Kennedy Center, can anyone please shed light on this topic? We will arrive Sunday and depart on Saturday so we are looking to do a weekday evening. I don't know if that is just a summer thing or not.

2) What is the best way to see the highlights of the Library of Congress? We didn't schedule a tour through out representative so would it be possible to wander and still feel like we saw most of it?

3) The 9/11 Memorial is on the north-west corner of the Pentagon, correct?

4) We are planning to stroll embassy row. Would the best thing to do is pick out the embassies we want to see and plot a route? (this one seems a bit obvious and self answering) I know we can't go into the embassies but it would still be nice to see the countries we are interested in.

I'm sure more questions will come up as it approaches so please those of you who can/do answer I would appreciate any help! I have quite the extensive list for DC so I really don't think any more "things to see" suggestions are necessary however we would maybe enjoy a few more restaurant ideas. Some inexpensive and some mid-priced. Thanks for any and all help!

Once you start mapping the embassies, you will realize that they are actually scattered all over town. although they are sort of in clusters. So yes, start with the ones you know you want to see, map them, and then plan your route accordingly; some will probably fall way outside a reasonable walking route. Have fun!

Not to shirk, but you should spend some time poking through the website above. Then come back for opinion on specifics venues/artists, etc.

Thanks for those suggestions, bardo1. We're also heading to DC in a couple of weeks and I'm always interested in inexpensive dining options.

Have a meal at Logan Tavern on P street between 14th and 15th streets. It's a great place for people watching at the outdoor tables, food is excellent and reasonably priced. Lots of expensive restaurants in DC but this is a great value. I lived in the neighborhood and ate there at least once a week.

After reviewing some of the restaurant ideas I would like to thank you. However, unfortunately I cannot eat seafood which I seem to be having difficulty with restaurants as some of the suggested ones here and elsewhere seem to be seafood. How about a mid-priced steak restaurant? ($15-$30 entre) We are staying in Penn Quarter but will also be willing to go elsewhere if we know the meal will be worth it!

In that price range, I'd look into Rays: The Steaks -- one Arlington and one in DC. There is another place in Cleveland Park, Medium Rare, which I've heard about but never been to. Can definitely recommend Ray's though.
