2 weeks in Hawaii vs 1 week in Maldives
 

Not sure which forum this belongs in, but related to my other hawaii post, my husband and I are planning a holiday for my 30th birthday and have another minor dilemma. I have always wanted to go to the Maldives, and it is almost half the distance/travel time from London as Hawaii, but also multiples of the price. For anyone who has been to both places, is it worth 1 week in the Maldives at a mid-range resort or 2 weeks in Hawaii at top choice resorts?

To give an idea, first choice would have been the W maldives, but at about USD 10k for a week, room only, not an option for this trip...maybe a honeymoon, but not this one! For roughly GBP 3,500, we can do flight/10 nights hotel in maui or kauai, or flight and 1 week hotel/flight for the Maldives, but not at any of my first choice accommodations.

is the extra week in hawaii worth the distance over the maldives?

I've only been to Hawaii, and I love it. But the Maldives are known to be spectacular. Honestly for your b-day celebration I'd go with that trip. And save Hawaii for another time.

I'm with Suze....As much as I love Hawaii and Kauai, Maldives would be my choice for a special b'day.

I just saw your other post. Since you have already been to Hawaii, I think you should go to the Maldives. I have never been, but would LOVE to go ... someday.
