2 Weeks From Michigan

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a new place to drive to from the Detroit area for my 2-week vacation this summer. I have been to Maine and Yellowstone, and am looking for a place to site-see, birding, and beautiful scenery. I enjoy staying in B and Bs or hotels. Any great suggestions are most welcome! Thanks!

Have you been to South Bass Island in Lake Erie? Lots of nice b&b's there. Great relaxing place.

Hi Buckeyemom,
(I should use "Huskeymom".)
I checked out the island on the internet...it looks like it really has a lot to offer...thanks!

Colorado offers infinite possibilities. Rocky Mtn. NP is a favorite. The central part of the state seems to be one mountain after another. Lodging is plentiful, but can fill up in the more popular destinations.

Glacier/Waterton is a spectacular area. Mix of accomodations depending on where you stay. Upscale to rustic.

The Canadian Rockies are special. The area around Banff to Jasper.

Just a few ideas. Enjoy whatever you choose to do.

This fellow Michigander loves to travel south to the mountains. I-75 down through Kentucky, stopping at either Lexington or Corbin. Hitting Gatlinburg and The Great Smokey Mountains (there are wonderful quiet places to stay!), and then over into Asheville - which is just lovely. Let me know if you'd like some advice on places to stay along the way. If you plan on driving south on I-75, pick up the book, "Driving The I-75." It is a great fold-out map book that tells of interesting stops along each exit. Describes motels, restaurants, radar/speed traps, historic monuments, etc.
Happy Trails,
Paul
