2 roundtrips, 3 airlines, 5 airports=no problems!
To all of you who've read all the gloom and doom reports about supposed horror stories at airports.....Well, either I'm very lucky, other reports are exaggerated and/or are being posted by trolls!
Anyway, not all air travel experiences are horror stories. I just completed 2 round trips the past two weeks between NY and New Orleans and NY and Chicago. I had long lines, but they move fast! I encountered polite agents at all 3 airlines in 5 airports that were part of my experience. Security personnel seemed to know what they doing! At one point, I was singled out once to have my carryon luggage searched and my body scanned by a security person who just about apologized while assuring me that I was only singled out at random!
I'm posting this just to show that a pleasant flying experience is still possible! Don't let the gloom and doomers scare you off! I'd still rather fly than drive any time!
Howard - Thanks for the reassuring note. It's nice to hear that my upcoming travels might not be the headache I once imagined.

Flew out of JFK yesterday (Sunday, 11/18) and only waited 1-1/2 hours, if that long....that was security AND check-in. Was a breeze and airline personnel were making sure that no one would miss their flight. Ticketing agents were in plentiful supply and very, very pleasant. Seemed like boarding the plane took longer than anything.

A postscript to my original posting:
The final leg of my flight odyssey was from O'Hare in Chicago. Figuring that the airport would be busy since it was the beginning of Thanksgiving week, I made sure I was at the airport 2 1/2 hours before flight time. Curbside checking was a delightful surprise! That, in turn, allowed me to get to the gate early enough to have my seat changed to an aisle seat in the exit door row, resulting in a most comfortable flight for this 6-footer. I'd say arriving early was definitely worth it!

Howard-Thanks for the update. IMO, the one's reporting all the problems either, don't fly and are getting their info. from water cooler gossip or they fly maybe once a year and just have no clue.
