2 more nights in Maui?

My wife and I will be staying for 5 nights at the Westin Maui in late August. We are trying to find another place to stay (preferably in another area of Maui) for two nights to round out our week-long trip. We're running into some difficulties with minimum stay requirements and non-A/C condos. Any suggestions?

I'm hoping to do something similar at the end of November.

I'm thinking of Hana for two nights. Going out to Hana late in the morning when all the day trippers are already a few hours ahead of me - stopping along the way and in no rush to spend plenty of time where I want. Overnight in Hana. Then spending the entire next day exploring the area right around Hana (state park and beaches) and beyond to the pools and trails, to come back to Hana for the night and leave the next morning for my flight out.

Another idea -- I have the Best Western in Kihei in my mind since there are no minimum night stays and with A/C. I don't plan on being in the room so I didn't feel so bad if I couldn't find anything else. With the B/W you can get a room with a 3 night cancel policy, so that if you want to stay in a condo with a last minute booking you may get in (when the condo might let you stay for less than 3/5 nights).

Some people have said that they did not mind the Kihei area without A/C due to the strong winds. If you like high A/C, then that surely is an issue.

Call the owners of the condos ask them if they'll waive the minimum stay. Frequently they do if there is availability.

Think about the Maui Prince hotel in Makena. Great location on a nice beach.

Do you have a specific place to stay in Hana?

I'm a huge fan of the Maui Prince Hotel. Nice, low key hotel on a great beach for swimming, sunning, and snorkeling.
