2 day in monterey or big sur?
 

Hi,
Driving up coast and back from San Diego for 5 days. Should we stay (with 5 yr old and 2 yr old) in Big sur for 1 night and Monterey for 2 nights or vice versa?

With children that age, Monterey for two nights! Take in the aquarium and stroll Fisherman's Wharf, you could also visit Carmel with two nights in Monterey, go to Pt. Lobos State Park, it's gorgeous there! ***kim*** ((#))

only because of the kiddies, monterey would be my choice too otherwise it would've been Big Sur....

I think we are unanamous - with the kids, Monterey.

Not much going on in Big Sur except beautiful views and re-live the 60s at Nepenthe & the Phoenix, or spend an obscene amount of money at Ventana or Post Ranch Inn, or stay in a rustic cabin at Deejins (sp) or Ripplewood, or take along your camping gear.

Monterey would be your best choice.

Thanks for all the replies. We decided to stay in Big Sur for 1 night at the Big Sur Lodge and then in Monterey for 2 nights! We'll add Pt. Lobos park to our list of to-dos!!
