$2,500.00 Where should we go ?

We need help. We are trying to plan our vacation. We have a week off and have no idea where to go ? Any suggestions ? My wife hates anywhere cold. We are leaving from Annapolis. Where would you go ?

cookie Feb 24th, 2001 11:16 AM

When is your vacation? What do you like
to do? Are you indoor or outdoor people? Do you want to drive or fly?

Jordie Feb 24th, 2001 11:18 AM

What week? Soon? Summer?

If you spend $200/night for (6 nights) lodging and $150/day for (6 days)food, that's $2100 leaving you $400. for airfare. Might squeeze out of that: Savannah/Tybee Island. Sarasota/Long Boat. Or get a package deal and go to the Bahamas or Caribbean (some really good deals from BWI, I believe, since we're coming out of high season soon).

Or spend more on airfare and less on hotel?

dantanna Feb 24th, 2001 11:30 AM

Vegas, baby...and put it all on "Red" and let 'er spin.

friend Feb 24th, 2001 09:57 PM

How about a cruise

John Feb 25th, 2001 07:42 AM

Flights from Dulles to Paris are running around $400-425 RT if you go in March or April. You can be on the beach on the Cote d'Azur later that afternoon. With the strong dollar, your remaining $1650+ would be just fine for 6 nights or so. Why roll 'em in Vegas when you can break the bank in Monte Carlo?

billy bob Feb 26th, 2001 07:47 AM

Williamsburg is the place to be.
Golf, pools, dining. and you can drive.
Jeanette Feb 26th, 2001 09:12 AM

The American dollar is got a great exchange in Italy. We are doing an 8 day in the Cinque Terra for that amount of money in March and staying in a villa. If you like wine, mountains by the sea, and golden sunlight- it can't be beat. April or May would make it much warmer too.

Hedonism is the place to be!
Its all inclusive, warm and if you cant find a good time there, well I always find a good time.
Good luck.

Rusty Feb 26th, 2001 12:15 PM

Thanks, We are not sure when we would go. Depends on where we go. A cruise is out. Hedonism is a little to wild, Thanks anyway lara (? big boobs ?) Any other suggestions. We are a couple not looking to spend a quite vacation around alot of kids, so Disney is out.
Anymore more suggestions ?
Thanks again.

T Feb 26th, 2001 01:43 PM

Yes, T, you need help. You have some perfectly nice suggestions already, but you reject these out of hand and ask for more. Does anyone else get the feeling this is turning out to be a waste of time because Rusty is so undecided he can't evaluate what you're recommending? I just bet he ends up accepting none of these ideas, and stays home with his $2500.

Karen Feb 26th, 2001 01:51 PM

Key West. It's always warm, and it's a great place to relax. From Washington, D.C., we paid $250 pp for airfare, and then $700 for a week for a one-bedroom apartment 2 blocks from Duval. We went in June, so it was cheaper. But also pretty darn hot. Also, our accommodations were definitely a bargain. I would think you'd be able to do a week in Key West well within your budget, depending on how much you spend on a B&B (lots of great B&Bs and inns throughout Key West--check out www.keywestlodging.com). Also, not a lot of kids running around there, either.

Scottsdale, Arizona?

Why don't you try looking on the Carribean and Cruise Forums? You will find more options there.

Rusty Feb 27th, 2001 06:23 AM

Thanks for all the help.
We looked into key west and that seems pretty nice. Are there large nice hotels that anyone would reccommend. Key west seems to be the winner, Short flight, Lots to do, party at night , good seafood.
Thanks for all the help ( except T. )

Karen Feb 27th, 2001 06:57 AM

There have been lots of threads on Key West, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of hotel recommendations. The Marquesa seems to get a lot of thumbs up. But as I said, there are a lot of really nice B&Bs and inns in the Old Town area, and they are definitely worth checking out.

Make sure you eat at Pepe's.

Rusty Feb 28th, 2001 05:32 AM

Thanks karen,
Any B and b's that you would reccommend ?
Aview of the sea and a quite morning is all we ask.
Thanks again for your help.
Rusty

For something exotic, warm and beautiful, try Bali--the air fare is pricey, but everything else is dirt cheap...I'm going on my honeymoon, staying for 2 weeks in beachfront bungalows for very little. You can get accommodation there from as cheap as $5 a night, plus there's lots to see and do...beaches, mountains, jungles, sightseeing (temples, dances, arts).

Seaside Florida,

Stay in a honeymoon cottage...truly quaint, your wife will love it, so will you...

Recommend cottage 6...

Lower level of cottage has a comfortable bed that opens up to a screened in porch with a large sunken jacuzzi tub, hear the waves crash upon the beach from the privacy of your beachfront cottage,,, sit in your own sauna in a nice white robe, in the morning enjoy your breakfast basket, delivered to you from the mercado marketplace, in the second level open porch on a rocking chair,

Gulf ocean is blue, waves enjoyable...

Activities are simple, yet pleasurable,,, architecture of Seaside is authentic to Florida, each beachhome is named and makes for a nice walk, bike ride, etc... Truman show was filmed here...

Enjoy!
