1st time Vegas travellers

This will be our first trip to Vegas and definitely interested in a MILD raft ride sight seeing. Any suggestions? Are there any tours that take you to the Valley of Fire? Any other suggestions would be so appreciated. We are 57 and 59 yrs. old.

raft ride?
It is easy and inexpensive to rent a car for the day and drive to the Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon. I don't personally know of tours, but ask your hotel, they will arrange everything for you if you ask.
Have fun!

I believe there is a raft trip that originates at or near the base of Hoover Dam. I have not done it but the water is usually calm there. That may change given all the recent precipitation however the dam can still control quite a bit of water.

the drive to the valley of fire is very straight forward. so unless your adverse to renting a car, i'd do that. you could do valley of fire and then hit hoover dam on the way back. a lot of the hotels have the car rentals rights there.
i've never seen raft rides advertised. there may be some boat trips on lake mead.

There is a raft trip that originates at the base of the Hoover Dam. Not only is it usually calm, but it is always calm because water flow is controlled by the dam. The trip will take you through the black canyon. Along the way, the guide will point out natural springs, waterfalls, and wildlife. The trips usually include hotel pickup. For a reputable tour company try www.looktours.com. Hope this helps.

Thank you to those who answered my questions about Vegas tours. I appreciate it so much. Somewhere I saw a picture of a lot of people in this huge "raft" but I can't find it anymore. I was referring to something like that. For the first time I'd prefer to get on a bus or boat and be escorted around. My husband might have a nervous breakdown driving and looking at sights. (kidding, of course). Isn't it true men can't do two things at once? ha ha.
Again, thanks for the help.

Here is one of the many links to the Hoover Dam raft tour

We took this raft ride many years ago. There is one spot where you hit a "bump" and the raft guide tells you to hold on. It is a very mild tour. You will see some pretty sites. It is a quiet and enjoyable raft ride.

I took the Valley of Fire tour. And the Red Rock canyon tour.

First advice: if you want to make advance reservations make sure and double-check there is a pick-up from your hotel. Or you will have to get somehow to another hotel to get on the tour bus. I usually ask the consierge to make reservations a day or 2 in advance.

If you want to go on both tours, do the Red Rock first, it's not as spectacular as Valley of Fire, still worth a visit.

Long as you brought up men, as one of those, here is what I do....

As you are driving toward the dam at some point say: : dam...that is a nice view! Then when you get there..dam that thing is big! At any point you could comment....I need to take a lot of dam pictures!

The possibilities are endless...have a great dam time!
