1st time ( actually second) Kayakers

My husband and I are traveling to Palm Coast, FL next week for the first time w/ our brand new Hobie Mirage Kayaks. We're staying w/ family. We're open to any wonderful tips and places to try out w/ our "new toys". We're so excited, we feel like little kids (probably too because we're leaving snow and going to sunshine!)

Look for back bay places where it's tranquil. This is also where you'll see the most wildlife. One of my favorite kayak trips was through a mosquito ditch in a mangrove stand off Captiva Island. Sounds awful, doesn't it? The ditches were cut in the 1950s as a way to control mosquito breeding. Now the mangroves have grown over and create a hammock. Lots of racoons and other more native creatures were all over the place.

Where's the Palm Coast? Is that w. palm area? I forget these anachronisms.

It's a city, isn't it?

Palm Coast is a city above Daytona Beach on the east coast of FL. I did look up Palm Coast on Google and saw that there's quite a few intracoastal waterways and canals.
