17 years old and going to NYC with mom and sister... any bars/clubs?

I am from Manitoba, Canada and my mom, sister and I are going to NYC at the end of april. Everything is booked (we got plane tickets for 467... not to brag :) and I am just wondering if there are any places to go at night that would be suitable for a 17 yr. old, a 20 yr. old and a fifty yr. old. (other than broadway shows of course)

This will give some ideas. Lots of Clubs/bars will not let under 21 year olds in and especially not under 18 - even with 50 year old mom.

Cafe Wha is always popular with families. There are a number of comedy clubs that allow under 18's. If you do a simple websearch for under 18 nightlife in NYC you should find some good lists. ;) Lots of fun off Broadway too. You might enjoy Altar Boyz. Look for discounts on broadwaybox.com (there are discounts there for b'way as well).

Clubbing is not an option for either a 17 year old or a 20 year old - unless you have a fake ID. Our drinking age is 21 and clubs don;t want to risk their liquor license. Also, your mom would not be comfortable in a trendy club - nor would they let a 50 year old in unless they appear in the pages of People (sorry - but it's true).

You can all go to some comedy clubs (but not all shows - you have to check) as well as restaurants that have music - of which there are a bunch.

If you have a look at the web site of Time OUt New York it will have a listing of what is on when. And a list of comedy clubs to check for ages.

Also have a look at the New York Magazine web site for your dates (there's an events search engine by category).

Thanks all. I was pretty sure this was the case. I appreciate all the advice I will continue searching...

I'm laughing at this, because every time I walk by the line for a trendy club, I remark "I don't think I meet their DESIRED demographic makeup!" (yes, I am definitely over 50)

I recently took a 16 yr old to Caroline's comedy club in times square and he loved it. I could not think of anywhere else I could take him where he would not get carded.

Well known big name comedians play there. They can be really dirty though so if that would embarass your mom, or you being with your mom)think about it :)
