12 day honey moon in hawaii- advice needed

Hello, I am going to 12 d honey moon in Oct, I am planning to spend 3 days in Oahu, 5 days in Maui and 5 day in TBI. For the Big Island, would it be too much to split the nights between Kona and Hilo. After reading a bunch of post, it seems like Hilo is more different from Maui and Oahu. ANy recommendations?

To be honest, all the islands are different from each other! if it were me, splitting time between Hilo and Kona would be fine, with maybe 3 days in Kona and 2 in Hilo. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Hilo. But from a tourist standpoint, I think Kona may have more to offer. You'll get a ton of differing opinions from the posters on this board, though, so you'll get a lot of information to consider.

My only concern is the amount of moving around.....although you are spending 5 days in Maui, so that will give you some good down time.

Congratulations on your wedding!

(I hope you're not really "bridezilla!") If you are definately going to visit Volcano Nat'l Park (on Hilo side) then you should stay 2 nights in Hilo, 3 in Kona. Hilo also has the only low-land tropical rainforest in the US.Tsunami Museum is downtown (very Deco). All of Big Island is so extremely differnt. 21 of 22 climate zones are found here.(something for everyone) It's so completely different from Maui & Oahu which have become so commercialized You might consider not doing Maui's Haleakula (dormant volcano)while in Maui, giving you more "downtime" to rest & enjoy honeymoon. Big Island's volcano is much more interesting & worth the trip. (esp. to first timer) There is much to see/do on Big Island. October is a perfect month-careful of your timing on the Big Island though. The famous "Iron-Man Triathilon" is usually on the full moon. Hotels/car rentals tend to sell out! So many "nooks & crannies" that are not listed in guide books-just ask locals. 5 Days on BIg Island is simply not enuff. If you have time, visit "Puu Honua O Honaunau" (City of Refuge-my namesake)
