101 closure
US 101 is closed 6 miles north of Leggett due to an enormous slide. If intending to drive between Oregon and California, take I5 for the next few days.
|
Here's how to get around it (could take 7 hours...):
From today's https://lostcoastoutpost.com/2017/ap...ext-week-high/ "At this time, our best estimates point to a reopening of U.S. Highway 101 to one-way traffic control sometime mid-to-late next week. The highway will not be reopened this weekend, and there are no local detours available. Travel plans should include detouring over onto Interstate 5 via Routes 20, 36, or 299 to loop back towards U.S. 101 on the other side of the closure. Motorists should anticipate these detours to take upwards of 7 hours." |
I've been thinking about a drive north on 101 from 20 when the weather improves. Thanks for this, I'll wait a bit. No rush.

A new slide at the same location, as of April 26, has closed U.S. 101 again.

Is this north of Gold Beach or south?
|
It is in California . . .
|
Over 200 miles south, Dyer.

Thank you - it won't affect my travel then, but what an inconvenience for others.
