I see Cindy is treating her kids like minature adults instead of letting them be KIDS!! And you wonder why kids are all screwed up today? IMHO, 10 year olds are not mature enough to be on an airplane by themselves. Pushing kids into adulthood to soon is a BIG MISTAKE people!

This is really getting old.

I can see that my writing must be entirely incomprehensible gibberish, as it seems I have badly misled well-meaning folks like Ralphie. Ralphie, I don't know what you're objecting to, as I haven't sent my kids on any unescorted travel as they are too young (and too timid, I might add). I was just offering an opinion. Sheez!

Well, my son flew down to Savannah by himself without a hitch. The flight attendant worked it so he could sit with another unaccompanied kid - an 8-year-old boy who was (reportedly) a veteran solo flier.
A few nerves beforehand, but no problem at all on the flight.
Thanks to all of you who offered advice!

Congratulations Bill for shipping your kid off to relatives so you don't have to deal with him or pay a babysitter. It is too bad parents have to ship their kids off instead of spending their TIME with them. No wonder there are so many screwed up kids today!!!!

Glad to hear it went fine, Bill. Let us know if you encounter any problems on the return flight, or have any specific advice for parents.
